Federal Government Contract (OFCCP) Training

Federal government contract (OFCCP) training

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) oversees the federal-contracting process, offering technical assistance, conducting compliance evaluations and investigating complaints regarding federal contracting or subcontracting.

OFCCP rules require companies that contract with the federal government to take "affirmative action" to ensure that job applicants and employees are treated without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or veteran status. This program covers the 2007 regulations regarding the expanded veteran categories under the Jobs for Veterans Act (JVA) and the 2008 regulations concerning employment openings.

If an OFCCP compliance evaluation discloses material violations or results in discrimination findings, a federal contractor/subcontractor faces costly lawsuits and settlements, as well as possible sanctions that include the withholding of payments due on any contract with the government, the termination of government contracts and even indefinite debarment.
